About pennie scott

Why is rewilding more important than ever in human history?

Almost 100 years ago, Albert Einstein said - "You cannot solve problems with the same mindset which caused them".

Technical innovations and use have brought our precious planet to the point of exhaustion with climate volatility, damaged hydrological and carbon cycles, and ecological instability.

The existential threats facing all life on Earth are very real while ever the current trajectory is maintained.

Wild reimagining and actions are required NOW to balance and heal, grow nourishing foods and restore bountiful ecological systems everywhere.

It is time to return to traditional knowledge, the natural intelligence of animals, cultural innovations and the Lores of Nature where miracles are occurring.

Rewilding human brains and landscapes is my research to apply and share in Australia for my, and your, grandchildren's grandchildren.

Where is rewilding happening?

Rewilding Europe and Rewilding Britain have lobbied to change laws and legislation enabling the return of locally extinct keystone species, and especially apex predators.

It is only around 200 years (four generations) ago when ecologies flourished in specific locales, and there was equilibrium between humans and Nature.

Rewilding humans

Over the past 60 years a slow and insidious culture has infiltrated our society.  Only a decade ago, most Australians had an aunt, uncle or grandparents who lived in the country, providing regular access to many things rural. With 85% of the population living in urban conditions, this intimate connection has been lost.

Technology is the sexy new kid on the block at the expense of Nature; even to the extent of deleting words relating to Nature from dictionaries. Rewilding humans is a reversal from tech-centric  to reconnect to the wild world.     Image courtesy of Active for Life

Connecting with Nature

Where and how we reconnect with Nature will increase the impact such an experience has on you.

In addition to the wild reams of bush country, learning how to grow nourishing food in organic and regenerative systems is another really important element of rewilding.

Connecting with Nature

I know I am very fortunate to live in rural NSW and on an organic (no toxic chemicals) property.  Even people living in cities can connect with Nature - very simply - by composting all the food scraps into soil.  If you don't have your own, become a guerilla composter :-). This video demonstrates how easy it is and "voila" you are an active element of Nature.

The challenge is not to see what is there but to know what is missing.
